A note about the show, from the director Sharon Thalmann...

Hello Everyone!

Hope you're staying warm now that winter is upon us. Some of you have already heard but I'm very excited to announce that the LRAC Grant that I applied for to produce our 'Romeo & Juliet' in April, has been awarded to us!

This is a wonderful honor and will aid us in producing a fantastic project which we trust will have a real impact on the students and theatre goers in our area.

The Grant includes two performances for area High School students on April 19 & 20 in the morning, followed by workshops for them in Speaking Shakespeare, Stage Combat and Mask Making. I know that I am asking you to give up your mornings on those two days and I hope that this will not deter you from auditioning. I'm trusting that everyone will be able to work it out. We will not have rehearsal on that Wed. night or a preview on that Thurs. The student shows will serve as our previews.

Auditions will be held at 6:30pm at AAAA on Mon. & Tues. on Jan. 9 & 10. There are roles for both men and women 17 years of age and older. We need around 30 actors for this production, a little bigger than the 'Hamlet' cast. There are many sword fights for the guys! We will again be working with Tom Ringberg who schooled us in Stage Combat for 'Hamlet.'

I will have dialog for you to read and I'd also like you to prepare a one minute Shakespearean monolog. This needn't be memorized and you can find some on the internet. We will be beginning rehearsals before 'Lend Me A Tenor' is finished, however, that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't be involved in both.

I always enjoy working with all of you and I hope that you'll tackle the challenge of 'Romeo & Juliet.'

Thanks!

Sharon Thalmann
